About
Where it all began
I was born in the Hyde Park neighborhood, on Chicago's south side. As a youngster I was fascinated with all musical genres, but especially Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Country, and early Rock & Roll.
From my very first plastic Mickey Mouse guitar and Emenee electronic organ, I knew making music spoke to my heart and soul. I was hooked!
Hitting the stage
I wrote my first song as a late teen, but it wasn't until I left home and moved to the inner city that I really got the spark to perform. I lived in an area of Jazz, Rock and Folk clubs; like Mr Kelly's, Jazz Showcase, the Cedar Closet and the Barbarossa. I met lots of kind and patient musicians who allowed me, a four chord wonder, to jam with them and pick their brains. I owe them a debt of thanks for their helping the musician I now am to emerge.
